  • 11/22/2010 Transplant plus 4 yrs plus 77 days!
We are home from what is Bonnie's third trip to Boston docz since Aug 31 (Transplant anniversary). This week we are celebrating our 22 anniversary. Both of us are busy on the book and with grandparenting. Bonnie's left eye continues to heal the "defects" that probably resulted in an attack of graft-vs-host disease this summer. Her Boston surgeon put a piece a placenta on the cornea and stitched it shut the first week of Sept and again in October. Most of the October stitches have come off, but Bonnie is keeping it well gooped and taped shut in an effort to give it a couple of other weeks of rest to secure the healing. Daniel is the sick one these days with terrible hip pain and now a very bad case of the crud. And still we are happy and doing well. We had a wonderful time with the kiddos at Halloween. Bonnie made Halloween coloring books from their own past Halloween pictures (at Crayola.com). They all came to hear Bonnie preach on the 21st; they are getting more and more accustomed to being in church and liking it more. We will be celebrating Thanksgiving at Jen's house with them and the other four grandparents. We loved seeing grandson Jackson and his mom, Dr. Deb in Boston. Jackson is quite the kindergartener and athlete these days. He's quite into playing chess. The book writing is squeezed in between doc and kiddo visits and church activities. We enjoy beautiful sunsets over the ocean every night.

I agree. The thought of it ending gives me great sadness. And I think it is time.

Daniel,
This is a wonderful resource for those who are still struggling with a fatal illness. I have referred several acquaintances here and have enjoyed the feedback. One friend, whose sister died several years ago was able to finally get some relief about her because she read what Bonnie's struggle became and communicated to me that she was glad her sister didn't follow that path to her demise.
I would encourage you to leave it up until the end of the year. That would give us who follow it time to refer folk we haven't yet.
On another subject, if your hip pain is from the hip joint, all you need are bi-lateral hip arthoplasties and a lot of money. I had to have each one done before I was 65. I love me some Titanium! What you'll learn is how much your butt weighs when you try to stand up the first time.
Would it be possible for you to post pictures of Ron and his bride?

Everyone will miss YOU if you take down this blog. We love Bonnie, but we have come to love you so very much.

Daniel

Hi Melanie,
Good to see your name cross our electronic threshold here. I agree that we should leave some version of Bonnie's weblog up on the net and a list of resources or some such... I am asking myself and you and others here "What should we do with this weblog". At the same time I am reporting complete on having contributed to Bonnie's weblog about her recovering her health and her self. Even though, in the end her health finally did fail, I think Bonnie more than recovered her "self" over the last nine years. Daniel
