Daniel and I had a good trip home from NC. It took us until Wednesday afternoon to get the car packed. We thought we might do all that on Tuesday, but Zachary decided he wanted to come to the beach on Monday night. Having him one more time was a treat for us. I bought him a shirt that said, “What happens at Grandma’s, stays at Grandma’s.” We wish it were decorated with muffins instead of cookies. We call him our “Muffin Boy” and he doesn’t object too much.
Today, Sunday, I got two units of blood; I was beginning to look pale yellow. I look more normal now, though I had to rest for a few hours after getting the blood. On Monday I go back for more heart testing and stuff like that.
I expect to be in the hospital on Thursday to start chemo therapy. I will first get a line inserted in my chest into which they will put the chemo and all the other drugs I’ll get. They also use this “Hickmann line” to draw blood for testing. It sounds a bit creepy, but it is much better than being poked all the time.
Here is the hospital contact information:
Brigham and Women's Hospital, 75 Francis Street, Boston, MA, 02115
Since I use my room phone line for internet access, don't try to reach me through the hospital operator; use my cell phone.
I'm looking forward to good week here on the EDS campus, though this is spring break and many friends are not here. The weather is warming up and soon we'll be seeing the first spring flowers.
