My season of waiting continues.
Today at our visit with Dr. Stone we learned that the first three potential marrow donors are not close enough for a transplant. It was disappointing, but we continue to have options: five more donors to be tested and the cord blood option if we can't find a donor.
The good news is that my blood levels are actually a bit better than they were two weeks ago before we went to N.C. My absolute neutrophil count is actually above 500, taking me out of "severe" neutropenia for now.
The best news in all of this is that Jennifer will come with Zac and Luc for a few days next week. Holding my boys is sure to boost my white count. Jackson (and family) will be back from their holiday in California, and the cousins will meet for the first time.
Speaking of Jackson, this picture of him was in the Boston Globe this week along with his mom. The reporter who broke the story about Harvard's president Summers' comment last year that women lack the "intrinsic aptitude" that men have for science chose Debrah as the center of her year-later follow up story. Debrah continues her good work for women's rights and respect as well as for science and motherhood. Check out the story here.
We are feeling grateful that I continue to be strong during this period of waiting.
I remember that story! I didn't know she 'belonged' to you! It was a good one and she has some realistic thoughts.
I also wanted to drop a quick comment on your ode to Anglican Christmas - since my ancestors were among the Puritans that 'welcomed' the Anglicans to these shores . . . :-)
Hugs!
