It has been three weeks since we have spoken. This is the longest lapse in our conversation in 25 years. I love you and even though I have been in constant motion since you went on home, I find myself missing you.
Given the choice of being sad because you are no longer here, or being crazy by imagining that I can continue the conversation we have held for a quarter of a century, I choose to be crazy.
So here is the news from earth.
At Zac's baseball game last night the little kids wanted to go to the slides and swings. Luc has grown another inch and Abi is getting freckles. When I was clearing Luc's eye of debris I had a chance to hold both of the kids close to me. I asked Abi who loved her. She thought for a moment and then with determination and joy she pronounced "GrandBe loves me." I touched her heart. Luc then told me that GrandBe was in their hearts.
Sweetheart, you did such a great job of being a den mother for our grandkids. This morning Abi dressed out of beautiful chest of drawers you gave her and she looked at her hair in dresser mirror; the fourth generation of women in your family to do so.
Zac's new cross is on his night table and his iPad2 with your loving inscription is on his desk. I can see just how much you lived with one foot in both worlds by how you made sure you gave Zac his August birthday gift, in May. I forgive you for your lapses in taking your Cipro and having to exit earth earlier than we had hoped. I appreciate just how much effort it took to simply stay with us for the last 9 years, not to mention the pain you have had to endure. Now you have your much needed relief.
Zac won his ball game after a rain delay. You did make it all the way to the graduation he most cared about: Zac is now playing on the central ball park with the electric scoreboard and the powerful lights. This is the field that he pined to play on when he was 3. Zac continues to be your amazing and talented boy.
And Jennifer continues to put me in awe, with her gentle certain way. She is ever more her own interpretation of the powerful female lineage of your family. She is stronger than ever as she manages her 3 ring circus here. She is taking very good care of me as well as her kids. She looks wonderful as she is working out in the Hospital health club she helped bring into existence. She is not only getting slim, her face looks wonderful.
So that is the news from earth. How do you like heaven so far?
With love Daniel
